Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 1, 2026

At Sterling Sails, we respect your privacy and like to keep things simple. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you inquire about or book a charter, how we use it, and the choices you have. We gather only what we need to respond to you and arrange a wonderful day on San Diego Bay.

01Information We Collect

When you contact us through our website form, by email, or by phone, we collect the details you choose to share with us. This typically includes your name, email address, phone number, your preferred charter date, and the contents of your message.

We do not collect payment card details through our website. Any payment information is handled directly with you at the time of booking through the method we agree upon.

02How We Use Your Information

We use your information to respond to inquiries, answer questions, arrange and confirm your charter, and stay in touch about your booking. In short, we use it to provide the service you asked us for.

We may also use your contact details to follow up after a charter or to share occasional updates, but only in the ways described in this policy and only where permitted.

03Cookies & Analytics

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to help the site function properly and to understand how visitors find and use it. We use Google Analytics 4, loaded through Google Tag Manager, which records information such as the pages you view, how you arrived at the site, your approximate location, and the type of browser and device you are using.

We also record, in your own browser, how you first found us — for example a search engine, an AI assistant, a social platform, or an advertisement. This lets us understand which of our efforts actually help people find us. It is stored on your device and is attached to your enquiry only if you choose to send us one.

We honour Google Consent Mode. If you are visiting from the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area or Switzerland, advertising and analytics cookies are switched off by default unless and until you agree to them.

We honour Global Privacy Control. If your browser or an extension sends that signal, we automatically switch off advertising and personalisation cookies without you having to do anything else.

You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings, and you can switch off advertising and personalisation cookies at any time on our Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page. Doing either will not prevent you from browsing the site or contacting us.

04Your California Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, gives you specific rights over your personal information. You can ask what we have collected about you, ask us to correct it, and ask us to delete it. We will not treat you differently for exercising any of these rights.

California law also gives you the right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of your personal information. Those terms are broader than they sound: they cover passing information about your visit to advertising partners so they can show you advertisements elsewhere, which the law calls cross-context behavioural advertising.

Sterling Sails does not sell your personal information for money. We do use standard website measurement and advertising technologies that can involve sharing information about your visit. You can switch these off for your browser at any time on our Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page, and we honour Global Privacy Control signals automatically.

To make an access, correction or deletion request, email captainliz@sterlingsails.com or call (858) 999-9895. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request, and you may use an authorised agent.

05Third-Party Services

We rely on a small number of trusted third-party services to run our website and communicate with you, such as our website host, contact-form provider, email service, and social media platforms.

These providers process information only as needed to perform their services and are expected to protect it. Their handling of your information is also governed by their own privacy policies.

06Email & Text Message Communications

If you contact us or provide your phone number, you consent to us replying by email, phone, or text message about your inquiry or booking. Standard message and data rates from your carrier may apply to any text messages.

We only send messages related to your charter or occasional relevant updates, and you can ask us to stop contacting you at any time by replying or letting us know directly.

07How We Share Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share it only with the service providers who help us operate, and only as needed to serve you.

We may disclose information if required by law, to comply with a valid legal request, or to protect the safety, rights, or property of our guests, our crew, or Sterling Sails.

08Data Retention

We keep your information only as long as needed to respond to your inquiry, provide your charter, meet our business and legal obligations, and maintain reasonable records.

When your information is no longer needed for these purposes, we take steps to delete it or securely dispose of it.

09Data Security

We take reasonable steps to protect the information you share with us against loss, misuse, and unauthorized access. As a small business, we limit access to your information to those who need it to help you.

While no method of transmission or storage is ever completely secure, we work to safeguard your details and keep our practices simple and responsible.

10Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal information, including the right to request access to it, to ask us to correct it, or to request that we delete it. California residents have specific rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).

To make a request, simply contact us using the details below. We will respond as required by applicable law and will never charge you or treat you differently for exercising your rights.

11Children's Privacy

Our website and charters are intended for adults, and our site is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Minors are welcome aboard as guests of a booking adult, who is responsible for them, but we do not knowingly gather personal information directly from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
