Terms & Conditions

By booking a charter, submitting an inquiry, or stepping aboard Mojave, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms and Conditions on behalf of yourself and everyone in your party.

If you are booking for a group, you are responsible for sharing these terms with your guests and for their compliance while aboard.

All charters are private and arranged by inquiry or reservation. To request a date, contact us through our website, by email at captainliz@sterlingsails.com, or by phone at (858) 999-9895.

A reservation is confirmed only once we have accepted your requested date and time and any required deposit has been received. Requested dates are not held until they are confirmed by us.

Please provide an accurate guest count and let us know about any special occasions or requests when you book, so we can prepare Mojave for your time on the water.

A deposit may be required to secure your date, with the remaining balance due before or on the day of your charter as arranged at the time of booking.

Accepted payment methods and the exact amounts due will be confirmed when you reserve. All prices are quoted in U.S. dollars.

Life happens, and we will always do our best to work with you. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please give us as much notice as possible by phone or email.

Cancellation and refund details, including any applicable notice periods, are confirmed at the time of booking. Deposits may be non-refundable, though we are typically glad to reschedule within a reasonable window, subject to availability.

If Sterling Sails cancels a charter for reasons within our control, you may choose to reschedule or receive a refund of the amounts you paid for that charter.

San Diego offers wonderful sailing weather, but conditions on the water can change quickly. For everyone's safety, Captain Liz has sole discretion to delay, shorten, modify, or cancel a charter due to weather, sea conditions, mechanical concerns, or other safety factors.

If we cancel or cut short a charter for weather or safety reasons, we will offer to reschedule for a mutually convenient date or, where rescheduling is not possible, discuss a fair resolution with you. These decisions are made only in the interest of your safety.

Captain Liz is a U.S. Coast Guard-certified captain and is responsible for the safety of the vessel and everyone aboard. Her instructions regarding safety, seating, movement about the boat, and use of equipment must be followed at all times.

For the comfort and safety of all, guests are asked to behave responsibly and courteously. The captain may refuse boarding to, or end a charter for, any guest who is intoxicated, disruptive, or unsafe, or who refuses to follow safety instructions, without refund.

Charters are limited to a maximum of six (6) guests, in keeping with the requirements for this vessel. For everyone's safety and comfort, this limit cannot be exceeded for any reason.

Complimentary drinks and light snacks are included with your charter. Any alcoholic beverages are served responsibly and only to guests who are of legal drinking age (21 or older), with valid identification available upon request.

The captain may decline to serve alcohol to any guest and may limit or stop service at any time. Guests who appear intoxicated may be refused service, and illegal drugs are strictly prohibited aboard Mojave.

Each private charter includes exclusive use of Mojave for your party of up to six guests, an experienced Coast Guard-certified captain, complimentary drinks and light snacks, and safety equipment for everyone aboard.

Specific inclusions, charter length, and any optional additions are confirmed at the time of booking. Gratuities and anything not expressly described are not included.

Sailing is an outdoor activity that carries inherent risks, including the motion of the vessel, wind and sun exposure, and the marine environment. By joining a charter, you and your guests voluntarily accept these ordinary risks.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Sterling Sails, its captain, and crew are not liable for personal injury, illness, or loss of or damage to property, except where caused by our gross negligence or willful misconduct. Guests participate at their own risk and are encouraged to carry appropriate personal insurance.

You are responsible for supervising any minors in your party at all times. Guests who are pregnant or who have medical conditions or mobility concerns should let us know in advance, and we may ask guests to sign a written liability waiver before departure.

You are responsible for your personal belongings while aboard. Please keep valuables secure, as Sterling Sails is not responsible for items that are lost, damaged, or left behind on the vessel.

We love capturing the magic of a day on the water. From time to time, Captain Liz may take photos or short videos during a charter, and with your permission we may use them to showcase Sterling Sails on our website and social media.

We will not use photos that clearly identify you for promotion without your consent, and you may opt out of any promotional use simply by letting us know before or during your charter. You are always welcome to take your own photos and videos for personal use.

Gift cards and gift certificates are non-refundable, carry no cash value, and may not be redeemed for cash except where required by law. They are subject to availability and should be presented at the time of booking.

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute relating to your charter will be handled in the appropriate courts located in California.

We may update these Terms from time to time. The current version and its effective date will always be posted on our website, and your continued use of our services means you accept the most recent version.
